Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka Sunset – Captured by Sanne (www.spendlifetraveling.com)
Hikkaduwa, a lively coastal town in the Galle District, south of capital city Colombo, is renowned for its beach and coral reef and one of the best surfing spots in Sri Lanka. Well worth a visit and for the perfect end to an active day in or around the water have a drink in one of the many cute beach bars and watch this amazing sunset.
Snapped in the city of San Cristobal de las Casas, in the state of Chiapas, Mexico, this is one of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen. Not only were the colours beyond beautiful, but so were the people I was with and the afternoon we’d had exploring the fascinating culture and cuisine of this special place. Sometimes the best sunsets follow the best days!
We are suckers for sunsets! Every time we travel, we have to catch the sunset, preferably on the beach! On our recent trip to San Diego, California we went to Oceanside to visit some family. We happened to be in the right place at the right time, as we went to the pier for sunset and stumbled across this gorgeous sunset. It truly was a pleasant surprise to find the sky lit up behind the palm trees. It was not what we were expecting to find while traveling through Oceanside!
This sunrise was taken on a frigid morning in rural Illinois. We were en route to Chicago and we pulled over at a rest stop just as the sun had begun to rise over the horizon. It was a rare moment when you’re in the middle of nowhere and you need to capture it. This is proof that amazing scenery can be found even in the most unlikely places.
Stiges, Spain Sunset – Captured by Amanda (www.travellust.co)
I witnessed this memorizing sunrise on the River Ganges in Varanasi, India. I loved how the sunrise was a celebration and everyone was singing and dancing, it was a beautiful moment I will never forget!
We are spoiled for choice when it comes to finding exotic locations around the world to enjoy stunning sunsets. From the luxurious beaches of Tahiti to the iconic skyline of New York City, there are gorgeous hot-spots that we are all familiar with. However, what about those hidden gems ‘off the beaten path’ that offer beauty but are rarely discovered? We are delighted to have discovered Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama which we now believe to be the ultimate destination to enjoy a peaceful sunset!
I have been traveling for almost three years now, living and working my way around America, Canada and Australia. There were some amazing sunrises in Canada up in the mountains, but one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen was in Australia. To be fair Australian beaches are stunning and the perfect backdrop to any sunrise or sunset, but one of my most memorable sunsets was a few weeks ago at Bribie Island. We had gone to the island for night of camping and after walking along the beach for a while stopped off to watch the sunset. It was such a perfect sunset and watching couples and families silhouettes walking along the beach made for a great photo opportunity!
